Is The Sinner Based On A True Story?

Secret Revealed: Is The Sinner Based On A True Story?

Is ‘The Sinner’ plot based on true events? Are the characters taken from real-life personalities? Did the horrific incidents really happen?

Being one of the most captivating storylines, this Netflix thriller always keeps you on the edge of your seats. It takes you on a roller coaster ride and lets you explore the possibilities of things that could have happened with character. But have you ever wondered that it might be based on true events? And since the OTT platform, Netflix is very famous for picking up real-life examples and making a deadly series/movie out of it, for example, The Confession Tapes, making a murderer, etc all actually in real life too. So fans wondering that a story so realistic might actually be true are not entirely their fault.

Is The Sinner Based On A True Story

There are three seasons of the series named after 3 characters ‘Cora’, ’Julian’ and ‘Jamie’. The storyline is different, the age groups of characters are different with Cora being a twenty-something woman, Julian who is still a teenager and Jamie is a thirty-something man. But the one thing common among the three of them is that they committed a ‘Sin’ (basically murdered people) and a police officer who doesn’t rest before completing everything he needs for the case and finding the ‘actual truth’.

SEASON 1: CORA

If you are still in the dilemma that a woman brutally killing a man, on a beach in broad daylight, did actually happen, you might be wrong. The story revolves around a woman, Cora (played by Jessica Biel) who murdered a man brutally and in front of everybody and therefore goes to jail for that. But then comes a police officer who is hell-bent on finding the truth and rests only when it’s unearthed.  The story is actually based on a book named ‘The Sinner’ by ‘Petra Hammesfahr’ which was published in 2007 and then again in 2017.

Season 2: Julian

Since the first season was based on a book, the second season didn’t have much guidance in that regard. But don’t start wondering that a teenage boy murdering 2 people did actually happen. It wasn’t based on any true events. The story was twisted as much as it could be and then the detective, of course, trying to unearth all the truths possible.

Season 3: Jamie

Continuing the series, the makers came up with another season, potentially with the scariest and most engaging of the 3 stories – Absolutely bizarre and nerve-wracking. But once again, the detective came to the rescue and finds out the truth about the incident. The season starred ‘Matt Bomer’ and how he ended up getting trapped in the plot of murder and once again Detective Harry Ambrose comes to his rescue and saves him.

The entire series is available on Netflix and waiting for you to BINGE WATCH it (if you haven’t till now) and get lost in this absolute thriller.
