Who is the strongest Avenger? This debate doesn’t seem to come to an end. Brie Larson thinks Captain Marvel is the strongest Avenger in Marvel.
Over the years, Thor (God of Thunder) has tried to fight for this title many times about who can be the most powerful Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The argument has now turned to a direct shootout between Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Before Captain Marvel’s release on 8 March 2019, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios and the primary creator and producer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, confirmed that the superhero, who is the alter-ego of US Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, will be the strongest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), possibly more powerful than Thanos.
Who Is More Powerful?
Later, in a Q&A with New York Film Academy in December 2019, Kevin Feige confirms that Scarlet Witch is the most powerful hero currently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Played by Elizabeth Olsen, Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximoff, joined the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron and was recently seen in a sitcom WandaVision which takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Looking at what unfolded during WandaVision, it is hard to argue with that, given that Agatha Harkness revealed Scarlet Witch could destroy the entire world if she wanted to, while the characters in the show even debated over which one of them would have been able to defeat the Mad Titan in hand-to-hand combat.
People do speculate that Captain Marvel is too powerful to defeat Thanos and his army because she has been sidelined through most of Avengers: Endgame. However, according to insider Daniel Richtman, Larson wants this crown and Captain Marvel to be the most powerful heroes in the MCU. Captain Marvel is widely considered to be the next kingpin of the Avengers, and there is no guarantee that Wanda will be one of them.
As one of the two most powerful characters in the MCU, we cannot forget how Scarlet Witch destroyed the mind stone, stomped Thanos, and would have eventually killed him. Also, Captain Marvel briefly staggered Thanos with her attacks before he overpowered her. She also absorbed the energy of the Infinity Stones and overthrew Thanos. Hence, it is tough to decide who is a powerful Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
