Hugh Jackman Reveals Potential Time Travel Storyline for Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman, who plays the Wolverine, explains how Weapon X can appear in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 after dying at the conclusion of 2017’s Logan.

Star of Deadpool 3 Hugh Jackman has hinted that time travel will play a part in his comeback as Logan/Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel threequel.

The actor explained how Wolverine will encounter Deadpool despite the latter’s passing in 2017’s Logan during a Sirius XM appearance.”All because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines, now we can go back because you know it’s science,” Hugh Jackman said. “And so I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline which was important to me and I think probably to the fans too.”

The threequel, which initially functioned as Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine, will not touch Logan, according to both Jackman and his Deadpool 3 co-star Ryan Reynolds. “Logan takes place in 2029,” Reynolds said. “Totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan. Not touching that.” Jackman will be portraying Logan/Wolverine for the ninth time in Deadpool 3, which also serves as the character’s formal Marvel Cinematic Universe premiere.

Even with Jackman’s time travel revelation, Marvel Studios is still keeping a lot of information regarding Deadpool 3 a secret. But Jackman recently hinted that the plot of Deadpool 3 would be a buddy police comedy-adventure movie, saying that he had always wanted to do a movie like that for the two characters.  “I went to a screening of Deadpool. I was 20 minutes in, and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was 48 Hrs. with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy,” Hugh Jackman said. “So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.” The MCU’s Deadpool will continue to be “raw, gritty, grounded in the ways that previous movies have been and that we all adore,” according to director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Reynolds.

Leslie Uggams is anticipated to return to her role as Wade Wilson’s roommate Blind Al from the first two Deadpool movies, but as of this writing, only Jackman and Reynolds from the X-Men franchise have been officially confirmed to play those roles in Deadpool 3. Additionally, according to reports, Zazie Beetz is negotiating a return as the mutant mercenary Domino, and Lewis Tan appears to have made an online announcement of his return as Shatterstar. In the 2018 film Deadpool 2, both actors debuted in their respective personas.
