The lovable classic series F.R.I.E.N.D.S and all its characters being everyone’s favorite, lots of happy, fun moments but there’s a particular scene that Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing is not so happy about.
The series has been a fan favorite ever since it aired, among people from all age groups and just recently it came back for a F.R.I.E.N.D.S REUNION. The story is about six characters Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Monica, Ross, and Phoebe. They are continuing this hilarious journey of epic fun sticking together through thick and thin. The series has various epic moments and scenes like this one episode called the ‘LOUNGE CHAIR EPISODE’.
The Barcalounge story of Joey and Chandler
Joey and Chandler had to kick back in their new lounge chairs but recently in the REUNION episode, Matthew Perry revealed that he didn’t like the idea very much originally. This came up when during the FRIENDS Reunion, the cast visited the recreated sets. The apartment of Joey and Chandler has two exact replicas of brown Barcaloungers (the one which turned them into ‘couch potatoes’ in season 2). Matthew expressed his dislike for the chairs in the REUNION.
The episode which showcased the romantic entanglement of Ross and Rachel and marks the beginning of their romance is the one wherein the other apartment across the hall where Joey has succeeded in his acting career and is a big star now and so he bought a ‘big screen TV and 2 iconic lounge chairs’ for himself and Chandler.
The roomies were glued to those chairs and though the other FRIENDS tried, they were not able to make the move. It was a simplistic plot device and so Perry wasn’t a fan of it. As they both sat on those chairs while the filming of the REUNION, LeBlanc brought up their memorable episode. He says “Do you remember the beginning of the week after the table draft? You came to me and you go, it’s so stupid!” he said to Perry. And I was like “Yeah, but that’s the brilliance”. LeBlanc continued that once he pointed out the episode’s potential, Perry acknowledged and welcomed the idea saying “Yeah, maybe we can have some fun with it”.
The episode had a lot going on and some other crazy epic moments too but nothing comes close to when the two sit on the leather barcalounge and refused to leave it and that sound they make while sitting on those chairs. It was one of the most iconic Joey – Chandler moments from all of the seasons.
