One of the most popular shows of all time, The Vampire Diaries is filled with amazing characters loved by all. But do you know who’s the most popular of them all?
The Vampire Diaries is based on the supernatural characters (and some humans too) and is full of sorts of drama and thrill and lots of twist. The series is 8 seasons long and is based on a novel of the same name written by L.J. Smith. The 1st season released in 2009 and ever since that fans have always loved it. The trio of Salvatore brothers (Damon and Stefan) and Elena have made a place in our hearts that’s to be replaced. Throughout the series, there were certain characters be it vampires, witches, werewolves, hybrid or human, one or the other was always in trouble and had to be saved or was planning or plotting something. Let’s do a quick recap on how popular the characters were during the show.
Damon Salvatore
One of the two Salvatore brothers, he is very quirky and fun to be around and always keeps everyone on their toes and though the two brothers started their vampire journey at around the same time, Damon was certainly the more powerful vampire of the two. And while he is placed among Klaus and Katherine for being ruthless and having this great ability to kill people at his will, he is a different person when around his love interest ‘Elena’. Fans obviously love him for all the fun he provides just by being in the show.
Klaus Mikaelson
Though being an Original and the only Hybrid, Klaus is all things powerful and everyone certainly fears him. His strength has no replacement and is something that remains unmatched. Every supernatural also fears him because he is in that crazy Klaus form but a villain this powerful is also needed to keep a balance in the show and not make it a show too sweet to handle. Also, his love for Caroline Forbes is very sweet and all about romance that is hard to believe for a person like Klaus.
Elena Gilbert
As far as the show is concerned she doesn’t have a very strong character but fans can’t stop adoring her for her super innocent and sweet nature. She is the center character and the main love interest of both the Salvatore brothers (at least for the initial part of the series) but later pairs up permanently with Damon Salvatore.
Caroline Forbes
Caroline Forbes is a very strong personality and as a vampire too, is very powerful (mentally). She is one of the youngest vampires in the show and is also very weak physically. But turning in to a vampire had a positive effect on her and she quickly adapted into the role. She is all things good and that little fling between her and Klaus is very much loved by fans.
Stefan Salvatore
Being all sweet and sensitive, he’s the exact opposite of his brother Damon. Being throughout the 8 seasons and helping everyone at every other turn, he is mostly the good guy and also tends to clean after his brother’s mess.
Bonnie Bennett
Even she wouldn’t have realized at the beginning of the show that she had such amazing powers and was one of the most important witches. It took her very long to realize how powerful she was but since she realized that, no character or antagonist could actually go against her. Even if she had to come back from the ‘Other Side’ or talk to Jeremy and save others numerous time’s she certainly is very powerful and fans totally adore her.
Alaric Saltzman
Since he’s mostly human and isn’t always in the center of the show, the popularity of Alaric isn’t as much as compared to others. He is also a very good friend of Damon Salvatore and their bond is cherished by fans.
Jeremy Gilbert
Among the human population, one of the most favorite characters is Jeremy Gilbert. Being very smart and a member of ‘Brotherhood of the Five’ (Ancient group of supernatural vampire hunters) he is certainly very popular.
