David Jenkins, the writer, and showrunner of the period romantic comedy Our Flag Means Death, has confirmed that filming on the second season is finished.
Our Flag Means Death, the popular period romantic comedy series on HBO Max, has wrapped production on its second season, according to a tweet from the show’s creator and showrunner, David Jenkins.

In the tweet, Jenkins shared a behind-the-scenes photo taken on the deck of the Revenge, the pirate ship that serves as the show’s primary setting. The image offers a glimpse into how the show is shot, with a sliver of the green screen visible at the top of the frame, indicating that the ship is located inside a studio.
HBO Max announced the renewal of Our Flag Means Death for a second season in June 2022. At the time, Jenkins released a statement thanking fans for their support. “We felt the show was special while we were making it,” the statement said. “But fans’ open-armed embrace of the inhabitants of the Revenge makes heading into a second season all the sweeter.”

Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death began filming in New Zealand in September 2022. Star Samba Schutte marked the start of shooting by sharing a photo of his cast member chair on Twitter. Schutte plays Roach, the Revenge’s cook, and doctor, and it was his character’s name that was on the chair, not Schutte’s.
Taika Waititi, who plays Edward “Ed” Teach/Blackbeard in the series, has discussed the direction of Our Flag Means Death’s second season, although his comments remain humorous. Waititi recently joked that Thor: Love and Thunder’s Chris Hemsworth could appear in the series as “Blackbeard’s cousin Blondebeard.” Hemsworth was present for Waititi’s joke and played along, pretending to be offended at not being invited to join Our Flag Means Death sooner.
Season 1 of Our Flag Means Death is available to stream on HBO Max. A release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
